The Annals of Biomedical
Engineering (ABME) is the monthly journal of the Biomedical Engineering
Society. Our journal is one of the leading biomedical engineering publications
with an increasing ICI impact factor (2.3%+ in 2006). Fellows, Members and
Associate members receive a print journal subscription with their membership.
Student and Post Graduate members may purchase a subscription with discounted
rates. All subscribers can view articles and abstracts from each issue online.
Student and Graduate/Post Graduate members may purchase a full view version of
the entire journal online for an additional fee payable with membership dues.

The Bulletin
is the BMES quarterly newsletter mailed to all BMES members.

Who are BMES Members?
BMES members are leaders in biomedical research and development.
Members are leading researchers from major universities, government agencies and
BME corporations worldwide as well as doctors and industry leaders in
pharmaceuticals and prosthetic devices among others.
BMES
Member Categories:
Membership is available at varying levels to individuals engaged
in the study, education and practice of biomedical engineering. BMES member
categories and dues rates are:
Fellow
Annual Dues: $250
Fellow status is awarded to Society members who demonstrate exceptional
achievements and experience in the field of biomedical engineering with a record
of membership and participation in the Society. Applications for new nominees
are accepted each year and a new class of Fellows is inducted during the Annual
Meeting. A portion of a Fellows annual dues fund BMES Student awards and other
Society activities.
Member
Annual Dues: $200
Candidate must have a degree in biomedical engineering or related field, must
have conducted meritorious original research, or development, or application, or
teaching in biomedical engineering, and must now be engaged in biomedical
engineering. Applicants must be sponsored by a Fellow, Member or Associate
member in good standing.
Associate
Annual Dues: $200
Candidates must either be employed in biomedical engineering, conduct research
or development in biomedical engineering, or hold an academic degree in
biomedical engineering or a related science. Applicants must be sponsored by a
Fellow, Member or Associate member in good standing.
Early Career
Annual Dues: $80
The Early Career membership is available to candidates having received a degree
in biomedical engineering or a related science within three (3) years of the
date of application. Applicants must be sponsored by a Fellow, Member or
Associate member in good standing.
Student
Annuals Dues: $30
Applicants currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an
undergraduate or graduate degree in biomedical engineering or a related science
may be admitted to Student membership. New and renewing Student applicants must
provide a member sponsor who is a faculty member of their educational
institution and a BMES Fellow or Member in good standing.

All BMES memberships are for a calendar year and expire on
December 31st each year.
BMES Memberships are application based and are not automatic with online
payments. Applications for membership and membership renewals take
approximately 3 to 5 business days to process. You will receive a confirmation
email when your application has been completed and activated welcoming you to
BMES and providing you with your member ID, username and password. A formal
welcome letter with your member wallet card is mailed to you.

Corresponding
A corresponding membership is available to individuals
interested in the field of biomedical engineering. This member category is not
available to individuals holding any degree in biomedical engineering or related
sciences. Applicants may not be employees of corporations engaged in BME who
are otherwise eligible for a full Member or Associate membership.
Corresponding members do not receive BMES publications or
subscriptions; are not eligible to vote or hold national office and will not
receive discounted registration for BMES meetings and events.
